Gemini on Google Classroom and ProProfs Socialization

TANGERANG, BANTEN – Lecturers at Swiss German University (SGU) gathered on Thursday, August 28, 2025, for a forward-thinking workshop focused on leveraging artificial intelligence to enhance university-level teaching. The session, hosted by the Academic Development Center (ADC), provided hands-on training for two key educational technology tools: Google’s Gemini for Google Classroom and the ProProfs online quiz maker.

The workshop aimed to empower educators with practical skills to streamline course planning, create robust and secure assessments, and increase student engagement.

The first half of the event was dedicated to ProProfs, a powerful online platform for creating quizzes and assessments. Participants were guided through its extensive features, including a variety of question formats, AI-powered quiz generation, and advanced security settings. A key focus was on implementing proctoring and browser security measures, such as disabling tab switching and copying, to ensure academic integrity during online examinations. Attendees engaged in practical tasks, creating their own quizzes and organizing them into folders.

The second part of the workshop shifted to the integration of Gemini within the familiar Google Classroom environment. The presentation highlighted Gemini’s comprehensive capabilities, which are seamlessly built into Google Workspace tools. Lecturers learned how to use the AI assistant for a range of administrative and instructional tasks, from drafting a complete course syllabus and outlining lesson plans to generating diverse assessment materials like rubrics, vocabulary lists, and text-dependent questions. Demonstrations showcased how to create engaging “choice boards” and even translate or re-level text for different learning needs.

By the end of the session, participants had created their own AI-generated lesson plans and assessment rubrics, equipping them with the confidence and skills to integrate these innovative tools into their upcoming courses. The workshop underscored a commitment to embracing technological advancements to foster a more dynamic and effective educational environment at the university.
